What Players Are Saying
Based on thousands of customer reviews on Amazon
My kid absolutely loves this game and is now very competitive and has the whole house playing competitions to see who's best. Would definitely recommend for kids and adults to pass away some boredom in the holidays!
My 6 year old loves this and the adjoining screwball scramble game. Good quality and size, price is not bad. It's fairly difficult but it helps improve dexterity and patience.
I Bought this as a collector it's well made and is a very good game you have to practice a few times to complete the maze. Recommended purchase.
I bought this on the premise it was for my children as I'd loved the original but the whole family are getting a kick out of it. It is just the right level of challenging so that you feel you've achieved by completing it but you're not stuck there for hours.
Ordered for my 9 year old grandson, he actually bought it with his birthday money. He absolutely loves it. It's well packaged, easy to put together which meant he was trying it out not long after it arrived.
Great addition to the other two, good price as well.
Great edition to our two other sections. Lot of laughs
This will test you unlike anything else will. It's made me confront my mortality. Will I ever get the dang ball to hit the bell?
About Screwball Scramble
Screwball Scramble is a skill-based action maze game with a legacy that stretches back to 1979. Created by TOMY, the game became a global favourite through the 1980s and remains in production today as one of the most recognisable hands-on puzzle games ever made.
Originally known in Japan as Athletic Land Game, Screwball Scramble challenged players to guide a single steel ball through a complex obstacle course using only buttons, levers, dials, and steady hands. No batteries, no shortcuts - just timing, coordination, and focus. Outside Japan, the game appeared under several names, including Run Yourself Ragged, before settling on the iconic Screwball Scramble brand.
A Timeless Game of Skill
At its core, Screwball Scramble is about mastering movement and precision under pressure. Players race against the clock to navigate a marble across tilting walkways, magnetic cranes, parallel bars, unstable tables, blind mazes, ramps, and a final catapult that rings the bell to stop the timer. Any mistake sends the ball back to the start, reinforcing patience, resilience, and fine motor control.
Designed for ages 5 and up, the game supports solo play, friendly competition, and cooperative challenges. The removable maze cover and escalating difficulty make it accessible for younger players while remaining genuinely challenging for adults.
Learning Through Play
Screwball Scramble has long been recognised as more than entertainment. Each course develops hand-eye coordination, dexterity, spatial awareness, and concentration. The clear cause-and-effect controls help players understand mechanics intuitively, while time-based play encourages goal setting and self-improvement.
The Modern Screwball Scramble Range
The classic design has expanded into a full family of games, all compatible with one another:
- Screwball Scramble Classic - the original horizontal maze that defined the genre.
- Screwball Scramble Level 2 - a redesigned second course with new obstacles, built to connect to the original for extended challenges.
- Screwball Scramble Level Up - a vertical, gravity-defying maze inspired by retro arcade games, pushing skill and nerve even further.
- Screwball Scramble Mini - a compact travel edition that brings the full experience into a portable format.
- Licensed Editions - themed versions, such as Bluey Screwball Scramble, combining familiar characters with the classic obstacle-based gameplay.
All versions remain true to the original principles: mechanical controls, physical skill, no batteries, and endlessly replayable challenges.
A Game That Endures
Decades after its debut, Screwball Scramble continues to be passed from one generation to the next. Its appeal lies in its honesty - success comes only from practice, calm decision-making, and steady hands. In a digital world, it remains proudly tactile, immediate, and timeless.
Screwball Scramble stands today as a classic of family gaming: simple to understand, difficult to master, and always rewarding to play.
